Sailing Area & Mooring

With over 1000 islands, Croatia’s stunning Dalmatian Coast provides a colourful and diverse Mediterranean sailing ground.

Clear, sheltered and tranquil waters of the Adriatic, and the perfect balance of modern and cosmopolitan together with diverse historical heritage makes Croatia one of the leading yacht charter destinations.

In Croatia you will generally pay to moor each night in a marina, harbour or sometimes on a mooring buoy. However, you generally pay less for flights to Croatia than to Greece. There are also some bays where you can moor for free and take your dinghy ashore. Mooring fees at the first class marina yacht bases at the start and end of your charter are included in teh yacht price. For the rest of your charter mooring fees depend on the size of the yacht and route taken, mooring fees on an average route can range from £160 - £400 per week. The benefits are guaranteed mooring spaces with power and water which you can book in advance, less chance of over crowding in bays and small harbours and organised mooring buoys for extra peace of mind. You will also have the assistance of friendly and well organised marina staff and port authorities to help you moor up and advise you about all the great facilities available.

Qualifications

To sail a yacht bareboat Croatian Maritime Law requires you to have a sailing license issued by the state authority of the country that you are coming from. A VHF radio license is also required. For the UK this is usually the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or RYA Day Skipper Practical (or higher), or a similar qualification from other countries.

With previous experience sailing on a similar size yacht the skipper should be assisted by at least one competent member of crew over 18 years of age. The skipper should be competent at handling a yacht in close quarters, anchoring and mooring in varying conditions and be able to use navigation and pilotage skills to plan the day’s sailing and know your position at any time.
