The Kornati

The Kornati region of Croatia includes the three island groups of the Zadar Archipelagos, Sibenik Archipelagos and the Kornati Islands. A sunny labyrinth of sea and islands, with the peace of untouched nature. Hundreds of largely uninhabited islands, islets and national parks adorn this area of extreme natural beauty. Amongst countless coves, caves and sandy beaches, there are many hidden restaurants in seaside villages offering the best local cuisine. Mainland towns and cities along the coast provide an exciting fusion of 3,000 years of history and a vibrant cosmopolitan culture.

What is it like to sail around the Kornati islands?

There’s reliable sunshine and dependable winds right through the season. The Kornati islands, like most of the sailing regions of Croatia, have purpose-built marinas in the middle of them, which are only accessible – like most of the islands – by yacht. The passages surrounding these islands offer relaxed and exciting sailing for both beginners and more experienced sailors throughout the season. Leisurely island hopping or ‘slalom’ sailing through the myriad of islands dotted within the National Parks, taking a yacht charter in Kornati is an experience that is truly one of a kind for all in love with sailing.

What is the weather like?

The popularity of Croatia as a sailing destination lies as much in the ideal climate as in the beauty of its shores. The sunny Adriatic enjoys an average of 315 cloudless days a year and the Kornati region enjoys hot and dry summers. During the most popular chartering season between May and November, blue skies and warm weather prevail. Summer temperatures are between 26°C to 30°C, with over 11 hours of sunshine a day with gentle winds generally NW 10 to 20 knots. Sea temperature is a pleasant 24°C on a bright summer’s day.

Navigation & Moorings

Navigation around the Kornati islands is fairly simple. Due to the close proximity of the islands is predominantly navigated by sight, with almost no tide or currents. There is usually a mooring fee to pay but its well worth it for the assistance you receive from the friendly and professional mariners when mooring on buoys, restaurant pontoons and on quay sides. The moorings lead to a peaceful stay, without over crowding and are friendly to the sea bed. Quays and marinas offer power and water and restaurants with their own mooring buoys or pontoon are free if you eat there.

Brilliant Boats & Cool Catamarans

Find your Perfect Yacht

We have the widest choice of thoughtfully selected modern yachts built by renowned yacht makers including Beneteau, Bavaria, Jeanneau, Dufour and Hanse and catamarans from Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot and Bali.

We know from experience what specifications and options make for a great charter yacht. There’s a choice of classic slab reefed mainsail or in-mast furling, if you prefer bow thrusters, many of the yachts over 40 feet have them. All yachts have wheel steering and most over 38 feet are twin helm. All yachts have a bimini sunshade in the cockpit and remote control electric anchor windlass. Many of the larger yachts and catamarans also have extras like electric winches, additional large fridges, coffee machines, on-deck drinks coolers and even on deck BBQ’s!

Listen to your favourite music onboard your yacht whilst sailing and relaxing both above and below deck with the latest maritime music systems onboard. Use your devices, cameras and video cameras and keep them charged wherever possible with various AUX and USB ports and charging points. Many of the yachts also offer optional onboard wi-fi if you need to stay connected on charter. All of the yachts have the latest colour GPS chartplotters (as well as the paper charts of course!).

All of the modern, latest generation yachts we offer are designed with sunny Mediterranean sailing in mind. That’s why they all have light and airy designs with plenty of opening hatches, port lights and windows to let the fresh summer breezes circulate around your yacht. In addition, many of the yachts have small cabin fans, some also have these in the salon areas too. Many yachts over 47 feet and the majority of catamarans also have air conditioning and a generator.

In addition to your beautiful yacht – the ultimate ‘water toy’; all boats come with a dinghy tender and optional outboard engine for exploring coves and little beaches and getting to shore when anchored in a pretty bay. Almost every yacht offers a modern, wide sunbathing platform and on the larger yachts these are often electrically operated. Most yachts also have additional water toys you can hire such as stand-up paddle boards (SUP’s) or kayaks.
