Where to Charter a Yacht in Greece
With five fabulous groups of Greek Islands to choose from and a skippered yacht charter is the perfect way to explore the most beautiful islands, many you can only reach by yacht. Sailors have always been attracted to the Greek Archipelago due to its Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and constantly fair winds. From the Ionian Sea in the west to the Aegean Sea on the eastern coast there is a fabulous choice of distinct sailing areas to discover. We can advise you on which sailing area will best deliver your dream Greek island adventure.
Explore the major Ionian islands of Kefalonia, Lefkas, Ithaca, Zakynthos, Corfu and Paxos, more than twenty smaller islands plus the unspoilt mainland with beautiful villages, harbours and bays. Enjoy calm waters, lush green landscapes, safe anchorages in bays encircled by olive groves and pine trees. Renowned for gentle, consistent sailing conditions the Ionian is perfect for a fun and relaxed yacht charter.
The Cyclades is a vast, diverse sailing area. Western islands including Kea, Kithnos, Serifos, Sifnos and Milos most resemble how you picture Greece to look – a beautiful world of white washed houses, cobalt blue and stunning turquoise waters and blue sky. Venture further and places like Paros, Naxos, Mykonos, Ios and Santorini complete a magical island chain with plenty to see and do, from bustling cosmopolitan towns to sleepy picturesque fishing villages.
The Saronic Gulf is a beautiful sailing area where you don’t have to venture far to find beautiful islands and coastal villages and ports that make up a wonderful sailing destination. Explore the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs scattered between the prefecture of Attica and the eastern Peloponnese and the major islands Aegina, Poros, Hydra and Spetses as well as the Peloponnese mainland with an array of beautiful villages, harbours and bays.
In the eastern Aegean the Dodecanese Islands include Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos, Symi and Tilos together with a myriad of smaller islets. With the exception of the more bustling islands of Kos and Rhodes most of the Dodecanese offer traditional, blue-and-white fishing villages, 12th century fortresses and little harbours, many hard to reach without a yacht. Much quieter than other Greek islands you will find life laid back and the locals most welcoming.
The North Sporades Islands lie off the Greek mainland and include Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos and Skyros. Every island has its own charm and something very authentic to offer. Discover incomparable natural beauty, breathtaking landscapes, dazzling, whitewashed houses, idyllic coastlines, caves, pretty churches and labyrinthine streets in lively neighbourhoods. Having provided the backdrop for the film Mama Mia there are still plenty of places you can reach only by yacht.
