Senior Yacht Charter Skipper positions available with Island Sailing Lefkas & Athens, Greece

About Us

Island Sailing is one of the fastest growing British yacht charter companies. With a love of sailing and a passion for the Greek islands we offer the best selection of extremely modern cruising yachts in the Ionian islands, the ArgoSaronic Gulf and the Cyclades islands from 31 – 55 feet. Island Sailing is also a British fully accredited RYA Training Centre based at Lefkas marina.  We offer some of the best sailing destinations in the Mediterranean on fantastic yachts for a great mix of clients.

Our season starts in May and ends in October. Whilst some of the opportunities we have are for the full season we also have opportunities for those available only during high season between June and September. Island Sailing is committed to encouraging and supporting the development of our teams’ careers within the yachting industry.

About the Role

Our senior skippers run one and two week yacht charters around the Ionian, Cyclades and Saronic on very new and extremely well maintained and presented monohull yachts and catamarans from 31-55 feet offering the highest level of customer service and professionalism whilst ensuring a safe and enjoyable sailing environment at all times. Our charters are for couples, families and friends of all ages and sailing abilities with no mixed groups. We are happy to consider those wishing to join us either for the entire season or for a shorter period over the peak summer time.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all the guests you sail with have an enjoyable and safe yacht charter holiday. You will be responsible for all aspects of the operation, maintenance and general management of the yacht including any necessary repairs. You will be an experienced yachts person with a background as skipper on yacht charters and delivery trips including on monohull yachts of a similar size and ideally some experience sailing catamarans from 40-50 feet. You will possess a minimum RYA Yacht Master Offshore with Commercial Endorsement with at least 15,000 miles as a commercial skipper. As the Cyclades can be a challenging sailing area the role is not suitable for newly qualified skippers.

You will be responsible for pre and post charter yacht checks, routine maintenance and will assist with yacht preparation on turnaround days to ensure the yachts are ready for our new guests. You will also brief the clients on the yachts systems and safety equipment. Whilst we have a first class team of yacht services experts available we would expect you to have the skills and aptitude to be able to carry out less complex repairs should a yacht require it during a charter.

Your ability to engage with clients and to be sociable, approachable and friendly are equally as important to the role as your seamanship skills. Finding the nicest bays for lunch time stops, taking your clients to the best tavernas and restaurants and choosing the prettiest and most suitable places for our clients to moor for the evenings is all part of the role. As our focus is on providing the highest levels of customer service you will be exceptionally well presented, hard-working and always willing to go the extra mile. You will be able to work independently as well as within an enthusiastic team and will also offer support at base when not on the water.
