A GUIDE TO GREECE

The Greek Islands

The sheer diversity of the Greek islands means there is a perfect sailing area for everyone. The Ionian and Saronic islands are best known for relaxing sailing adventures. Ideal for those new to sailing and for families, experienced sailors seeking something more exhilarating can choose a route for longer sailing days. With more open sea, sailing the Cyclades is better suited for more experienced skippers and enthusiastic crew to discover the white washed buildings that Greece is famous for. Further afield from the two largest islands you can experience the laid back style of the charming little villages and natural beauty of the landscape in the Dodecanese. From small village harbours to peaceful anchorages, the islands of the Sporades are a beautiful area to explore some of the most unspoiled Greek islands. The Dodecanese and Sporades islands are ideal for those seeking more adventurous sailing in the Aegean Sea.

Bareboat Charter Ionian

The Ionian Islands are a chain of islands to the west of mainland Greece and are home to one of the Mediterranean’s most popular yacht charter sailing destinations, perfect for fun, relaxed and varied Greek island sailing. A sailing destination that suits all sailing abilities, as distances between the main cluster of islands are short so you don’t have to sail for hours at a time if you don’t want to, but for more adventurous sailors the northern and southern extremities of the Ionian islands offer longer passages.

Bareboat Charter Cyclades

South of Athens the vast group of Cyclades islands in the Aegean is a great sailing area for more experienced sailors with enthusiastic crew to explore. The white washed houses and clear turquoise water resemble the traditional ideal that most people picture when they think of Greece, however each island has its own unique charm. From lively party destinations of Mykonos and Paros to more traditional and peaceful villages on Kea and Kythnos. Explore stunning scenery and vibrant destinations, soak up the charm of sleepy villages and witness awesome ancient Greek sites.

Bareboat Charter Saronic

From the dazzling blue sea to the blissfully relaxed pace, the Saronic Islands of Greece are a very special yacht charter destination. With its captivating blend of ancient culture, idyllic islands and mouthwatering cuisine it has something for everyone. A sailing area ideal for most abilities, the Saronic has a special charm, rich history and laid back rustic welcome. The ancient traditions are blended with a more refined sophistication and quiet glamour. There is no better way to explore the long sandy beaches and secluded bays than by chartering a yacht.

Bareboat Charter Dodecanese

The Dodecanese is made up of 32 islands and the perfect place for a classically Greek sailing experience. The Islands lie in the south east of the Aegean, offshore from mainland Turkey and offer a rich and varied sailing adventure. It is commonly referred to as the Turquoise Coast with blue skies, beautiful warm clear waters and magical views. The winds can be spectacular for those who dream of sailing the Greek islands, providing an exhilarating ride across the Mediterranean Sea. Some of the prettiest and most unspoiled islands can be found if you venture along the archipelago by yacht.

Bareboat Yacht Charter Sporades

Largely off the beaten track, the Sporades islands off the north-eastern Greek coastline, have a great natural beauty with wonderful beaches, lush green vegetation, rocky landscapes and a pure blue shimmering sea. Ideal for those who enjoy an energetic sailing experience, novice sailors may find some of the conditions a little more of a challenge. The region provided the backdrop for the film Mama Mia and from small village harbours to peaceful anchorages, it’s a beautiful area to explore. Only four of the twenty four islands are inhabited so there are plenty of places that can only be reached by yacht.
