If you need any help or information when arranging your travel to Alimos Marina, Athens we will be glad to help.

Marina Alimos is served by a network of trams, buses and taxis with stations 500 meters from the Marina. There are 3 ways to get to the Marina from Athens International Airport, El.Venizelos.

The public bus runs 24 hours every 15-30 minutes. The bus number is X96 and takes approximately 60 minutes to get to the Marina. The bus stop is outside the Marina and is called “EDEM” (ask the bus driver for help). Tickets costs €5.00 per person and can be purchased by the bus driver.

The metro takes you to Syntagma Square in the city centre. From there you can get the Tram Line to Alimos marina (EDEM stop). The metro runs every 30 minutes from 05:30 till midnight on a daily basis. Tickets costs €6 per person and it covers the change of the Tram Line. For further information visit

The taxi is the most convenient way to reach the Marina. There are plenty of taxis just outside the airport. A regular taxi (maximum 4 persons) costs €40-45 and it takes approximately 45 minutes.

Please let Island Sailing know the approximate time of your arrival to the Marina. If you are going to be significantly earlier or later than expected please call us (see contact information below). Upon arrival please make your way the ‘Kavas’ Kiosk at Alimos marina opposite pier 7-8 where the yachts are based (please see map below).

If you will be arriving later than this we will provide instructions for you to collect the keys for your boat and check-in will provided the following morning.

Please call your skipper upon arrival at the marina - they will be at the marina to meet you. We will let you know your skipper’s name and telephone number when we finalise our skipper schedules the week prior to your charter.

Travel light is our advice. Don’t forget your passport(s).

Unless you have booked a skipper or sailing instructor you must remember to bring the original copy(s) of your sailing qualifications/skipper's licence.

You must bring a mobile phone set up for roaming in Greece and charger – it is very important that we can keep in contact in case of emergency as VHF signal is only line of sight.

Please bring your luggage in a soft bag that will fold down without wheels or hard edges. Space on a yacht is limited and cases with hard edges and wheels will often damage the woodwork on the boat. Unfortunately there isn't a luggage store at the marina.

Bedding and yacht towels are provided on your yacht but you'll need to bring beach towels with you. If you have a late flight home we recommend bringing another towel if you wish as yacht towels cannot be kept after you disembark on the last day.

All yachts are equipped with sufficient numbers of life jackets, usually of a standard size. If you are not a standard size, or especially for small children it is wise to bring your own life jackets . If you would like to check about this before you come to Greece please get in touch.

You will need to bring a VISA or MASTERCARD credit card for your yacht security deposit (debit cards are not accepted). Please make sure you have a large enough limit to cover the deposit for the yacht you have booked.
