Joining a flotilla gives the perfect balance of independence and social sailing with the reassurance of support. An Ionian flotilla consists of a small group of other yachts exploring the Greek islands with a lead boat and crew. Sailing in a flotilla is a great way to enjoy a fun and relaxing yachting holiday around the beautiful Ionian islands of Greece.

Flotilla sailing is a great way to sail in the sunshine on your own yacht with your family or friends in the beautiful Greek islands with the reassurance of being part of a group with the back-up of an experienced and knowledgeable lead crew.
Cruise at your own pace, drop anchor for a swim or snorkel in the clear warm waters of the Ionian, explore coves, beaches and secluded bays and discover pretty villages and breathtaking scenery. The specially chosen Ionian itineraries mean that you visit the best bays, the most beautiful villages and the nicest tavernas sailing to a different Ionian island destination each day.
Choose to sail from our Lefkas base around the Ionian islands of Greece in a Seafarer flotilla for one week or two. You can also join a flotilla for one week and then go bareboat the next. Explore the Southern Ionian including the islands of Meganissi, Ithaca, Kalamos, Kastos and Kefalonia or visit the North Ionian including Corfu, Paxos, the western shores of mainland Greece and the Amvrakikos Gulf. You can also take a South Ionian route for one week followed by a North Ionian route the second week.
The experienced and knowledgeable Seafarer flotilla lead crew will give a briefing each morning and chat about the cruising plans for the day, giving you lots of local information, cruising tips and advice.

You are completely free to spend each day sailing independently or as a group but you can always refer back to the lead boat on the radio or mobile phone whenever you want to. Set sail at your leisure and explore at your own pace and stay in a different Ionian island port each evening, stopping en route in a small bay or pretty village for lunch and a swim.
The lead flotilla boat will be at the chosen destination each afternoon to make sure that you are moored up safely for the night. Once in port, the evenings are your own. Meeting up with others in your flotilla in the evening makes for a great way to share your experiences of discovering new Ionian island destinations with like-minded sailors. The flotillas provide flexibility at the end of each week when you will have the option to sail to one or two destinations of your choice on 'free sailing' days.
Relax and enjoy the company of others in your flotilla or spend time with your family or friends – on your Ionian flotilla sailing holiday the choice is always yours.
The flotilla sailing season in the Ionian runs from April to November and you can sail in a flotilla from our Lefkas marina yacht charter base for one week, two weeks or more! You can also join a flotilla for one week and then take your yacht bareboat for the second week.

Your yacht is fully equipped with everything you will need whilst on your flotilla sailing holiday around the Ionian islands of Greece and includes wheel steering, roller genoa, fully battened mainsail with packamain system, Raymarine chart plotter, CD player (ipod ready), sun bimini, fridge, hot water, electric anchor windlass and fantastic teak sunbathing platform.
To be able to sail your own yacht on the Seafarer flotilla one of you (the skipper) should have some previous sailing experience and a sailing qualification helped by a competent member of crew (the skipper's first mate!).
If you have some sailing experience but no sailing qualifications you can take an Ionian sailing course through one of our affiliated RYA Ionian sailing schools during the first week of your sailing holiday and then join a flotilla and sail the yacht yourself on the second week. Sailing courses are fun and relaxed and can take part in the Ionian flotillas around the South and North Ionian which means that you can gain your sailing qualification and have fun in the sun at the same time.
If you want to take a sailing course in the UK before you come to Greece call or email us for information about RYA Sailing Schools in England, Wales and Scotland.
